Pattos Peel and Stick

If you guys (and girls) are like me, when you do your repaints you've been using the same waterslide decals for ever.
I'd heard about Pattos Peel and Stick, but stayed with the waterslide, (anything new is just weird and suspicious).

Well I gave some of the peel and stick a try for the first time today, (I wasn't totally happy with the way the waterslides sat on the 9 Camaro, so stripped off the future clear coat and decals and redid them with the P & S) and I'm hooked.

A little bit of soapy water on the place to be decalled, peel the back of the decal, sit the decal on and slide it into place and squeeze the water out by rolling a cotton bud and smoth over with a tissue. So Easy.
The surrounding clear back ground literally disappears. Way more so than waterslides and they are superthin too.

Do yourself a favour and give 'em a go if you haven't already done so.

Yep, what Ted said. I've only used the peel N stick so I can't refrence water slide.... 'cept when I was 10 .... My recent #48 Lowes in green used them as well as the other two cars in the picture. I was sold on their toughness, I run digital so there's going to be rubbing.

I have used them and have several sets in the old scrapbook for other projects.

They are not the best for going over fine detail, but they are very durable and easy to work with.

On our stockers they are perfect.

Interesting! I hadn't tried them yet - as I had the mental image of the sticker sheets that came with my old Tamiya RC cars in the 80's (ie - "thick")
If these are thin enough that they can be successfully cleared in - these are definitely worth a look! Thanks for the heads up!

He should be using a finer grade vinyl for them. Avery 1040D would be perfect.

But they are very easy to handle,just not overly keen on complex curves.

Not really. They work for a lot of cars, but like Ember said, going over complex curves or fine detail, they are not the best approach.

Unless someone has a method for getting them to snuggle into all the lines I don't know about, which is entirely possible :)

Hairdryer will help some, but it's not really a conformable vinyl. By the time you get it warm enough to set to shape (90℃) you'll risk distorting the plastic or resin body. It's fine for flattish surfaces and pin striping, but I wouldn't want to try something like a large decal over a front splitter or even a rear quarter.

I must admit they only went onto doors, roof and hood. No Curvy bits. I wonder how they'd respond to decal set solution. I suppose then that would defeat the purpose of simplicity. I'll still definitely keep using them for the flat bits.
