You could try this:

The plates have two small nuts soldered to each, and they are glued to a piece of heavy foam, which is then glued to the body sides. I use bits of heavy weatherstrip foam for this. Then the pans have two countersunk holes each:

I used 2mm screws on this one i think, but 2-56 size will work fine as well. Just don't go much bigger, as it is difficult to get the head countersunk enough to be level with the underside of the pan.

Then you can adjust how much pan movement you want by how tight the screws are.
