What an absolutely awesome day of testing.
I had almost too many things to check out. Most of the projects worked very well. Some worked even better.
Mr. Dickie Pearson . . . . I would like to take this opportunity to say "Thank You" for all your input on this particular build. I very wisely, as it turns out, did all that you suggested and even though the wheel inserts did not arrive in time - not from SCC, but another vendor - the Fly was truly transformed.
The 18,000 rpm H&R Hawk motor is just splendid on our MDF track at our club. It has a lot of low end power and the car literally 'explodes' off the turn. With the chassis setup as you suggested, the forward bite coming off a turn let's you harness all of that available 'punch' and get a head start on the competition. Basically you can lengthed the straights by being able to accelerate quicker as you are exiting the turn. I was running against a car with the 21,500 rpm orange end bell motor. At the end of the straight we were neck and neck going into the next turn. So I was able to get the jump on him as we exited the turn leading into the straight.
With the chassis made into a one piece assembly like you suggested, the car is very predictable in the turns. If you add a bit of throttle, the car will slide out a bit - very proportional to the amount of throttle. It's a whole lot of fun to drive in a spirited manner.
All I can say is the car is so much FUN to drive now, I am totally enjoying this car.
What a magnificent difference from the way it was! Almost no comparison.
RMinAustrailia has this as his signatory line: "FlySlot........making slot tuners out of slot enthusiasts for oh so many years now."
I fully understand what he is talking about . . . . . now.
