1/32 lindbergh model question?

Hi guys!

Question about 1/32 lindbergh model kits?

What is the size comparison of the 1/32 lindbergh '34 coupe kit body compared to the revell snap tite 1/32 '34 coupe body?

Are they both approximately the same size or is the lindbergh slightly smaller by comparison?

I have heard the lindbergh 1/32 kits tend to run a bit smaller than the claimed 1/32 scale?

Again any info is very much appreciated!

Lindberg is all over the place, especially since they bought some of the old molds from other manufacturers who were attentive to scale. Originally, and as late as 1995, the Lindberg models were crazy small, like somewhere around 1/48, but labelled 1/32. They even had two scales in the same box sometimes. I have a 1995 Chev truck that had a motorcycle to go in the bed, and the truck is 1/42, the bike is 1/55. Their 53 Ford Tudor is around 1/40. (yes, I actually measured it)

Love the example of the Chev truck and bike combo. I knew the Lindberg were bad, but I didn't realise they were that bad.

The biggest advantage I see in the Lindberg kits is that they are fairly simple for novice kitbash experimenting. Unfortunately they are becoming harder to come by over here with most hobby retailers now only stocking the Japanese branded kits.

measurements from fender end to fender end

I don`t know which is closest, but wouldn`t have a problem running them together in a oval race. By the time you get some nerfs on them probably be hard pressed to find much difference.

They will make for a nice series of old dirt track racers at Bolton Raceway Park!

That's great. I knew some of them were a good scale. We should make a list of Lindys that are good scale as a service for slot car guys. I'm sure we have a good sampling of them. I'll see how many of them I have today just to see. I think the molds that were good that Lindy bought were Palmer and Hawk. There may have been more. Mark may know about this stuff.

Are some of the Lindbergh 1/32 kits multi piece bodies, never liked multi piece bodies for slot cars, I know some of the older ones had this type of body.

I have the Lindbergh '34 Ford and that is multi piece. Sometimes I tack bodies like that together with a few dots of hot glue just to hold things together . For static models I would then apply model cement from the inside, for slor car bodies I use epoxy.

FWIW: Those kits, originally manufactured by Pyro, where scaled to fit in a certain size box. Sometimes they worked out to 1/32, sometimes not.
The molds went from Pyro to Palmer to Life-Like, then Lindberg.

I bought one of their Buick Century kits and it's not even equal scale in all directions. A shame because they do some interesting stuff
