Tom, the beauty of it is that between Bruce and myself, we own about every modern slot car known to man. I expect to have a large box of test cars that are already broken in.

I'd ask that rather than make a list, people interested in this class should just ask if they can run a particular brand. If I have one of those that will probably make it down the track, I'll say yes. If I don't, then we'll ask Bruce, and if he doesn't have it, then it's a no.

I agree Kurt, I'm sure we can come up with plenty of brands to test. Now while we may have a lot of them, I'm not sure I'll want to test my Racer! :hand: :lol:

Mick, the sand is a cool idea. I'm out of room on my walls for more posters, but some 'fast sand' would be a cool track decoration. :)

Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to change the whole new rule thing, this is just an idea.
We could run this stock class just like the salt flat racers do, by motor size, they use cubic inches we could use motor TYPE
FC130….. Slot-it / Scalextric / and others
FK130…….Fly / TRS / and others
FK180…….Slot/Ninco / NSR/ and others
Flat 6…….Slot-it / maybe others
FF………Scalextric/MRRC/Carrera / Cartrix / others
16D / SCX…. SCX/ maybe others
***All cars must run the same TYPE motor they were manufactured with but they can install any manufactures motor, even after market motors, as long as they are for 1/32 scale racing. The motor must be mounted in the stock location and the stock drive method. (in-line / sidewinder / etc. ) all other stock rules apply
NSR may be still the fastest in the FK180 class, (a Slot-it with an NSR motor would give it a run for the money) but there are many more chances for other cars to be fast… A Cartrix with a 30K rpm FF motor! A Fly with a 48k rpm falcon! …A SCX with a hot 16D!

You could use the Base line system but let other motors be install as above.*** That would let something like a SCX or Cartrix stand a good chance of being fast.

Interesting idea, Tom. It's got some merit, for sure. It probably still keeps the field tilted toward NSR, though, because their advantages come from more than just the motor. The chassis has a lot to do with speed, and it's a lot easier to get an NSR running smoothly down the track than it is to slap an NSR motor in a Carrera, for example, and get it running smoothly down the track.

Let's keep that one in our bag of tricks for the future, but for now, we really need to keep things from tilting toward NSR so we can keep things interesting for the builders. We need a broad range of cars that can be successful, and the benchmark racing appears to do that.

Also, we need to come to a decision on this class quickly so we can nail down the other classes, and give builders enough of an opportunity to build their cars. :grin:

I got thinking about motors after you stated that the NSR advantage is more then just motor. That maybe true but their 55k rpm boxer motor plays a big part in their speed. If you took the big motors away form all manufactures in the stock class that would bring NSR cars much closer to all the other manufactures. They are the only one at this time to have a 50k rpm boxer motor. They would have to use their FC130 (S can) that is rated at 40k rpm, that's inline with other manufactures S can motors. Alone with using your base line system, outlaw all boxer motors (FK180 type)in the stock class only and I think the playing field will be much closer.
