Could do with a few repairs and patches on that asphalt. Perhaps a few cracks and potholes at the edges. ;)

I guess lane colours is up to you, but I'd still be inclined to add them in, even if it's just on the turns. Or perhaps you could just use a colour spot beside the tape every few feet. Not obvious to the overall look, but enough to see if you're re-slotting cars during the madness.

Well, I never thought I needed lane colors on my oval until after we did them. Now I might be lost without them :)

But some cool ideas like Todd's would be a neat way to go.

the track looks great, 1 bad thing about black track is that black cars disappear, and asphalt is only black when its new.
After a year it turns more gray
I would not add lane colors

Looks great!

The generous large radius turns make for a smooth running track. I vote for yellow, blue, orange, green lane colors of some sort. Looks like when you get the fences up you may need that extra apron on the exit of 2 and 4?

Great progress - will be watching. When it is done will you be running races? Do you have a group of racers to run at the track?

I finally made the stupid new photobucket thing work. That photo of how I painted my slots is fixed. Does anyone know a better free place than the idiots at photobucket? I'm sick of trying to figure out 3 new layouts per year.

Dave, the cracks are just done with some thinned black artists acrylic and a fine liner brush. Potholes are done with a patch of the edge/bed colour and the shaded with a built up wash of black. Line the edges with a liner brush.

I puddle around too much to make tutorials on video. It's really just fiddling with it until it looks right for me. I'm the same with figure painting.
