Back in the 1970's my buddies and me made slot car bodies out of foil and taped them to a chassis and raced them that way. The point of this was to learn how to drive fast without it becoming a crash fest. Our rules stated that if your foil body became heavily damaged in a crash, you were out of the race, just like full sized cars. We made the bodies by forming them over exsisting model cars that we had and painting them while still on the "form" and cutting out the wheel wells, we just painted the windows black. It made for some realistic crashes. Once in a while there were even some sparks as the cars slid down the track on there roof.
