first attempt at a midget Build

Started on a midget build after seeing Shotgun Daves beautiful car
I am using a body from Scotts racing products to start with,they are 1/32 scale.Dave was right about these things being small!
it is still in the build mode.but thought I would share what I have so far.

Guide pins are the way to go for small tight places. In the 60s, I made all my scratch-built cars with pins, even 1/24s. We used 1/8 inch nylon rod that used to be available at LHSs, but I can't seem to be able to find any more of it. I have a 1/32 Ferrari/Lancia D50 with a carbon fibre pin, but it doesn't work as well as the nylon.

My Shot Gun Dave midget just got primed and will soon be mobile. I have a guide, but had to cut the bottom curve off the front to fit it.

a pin, really? I never had much luck with those.
back then in the club days in that time period, I'd just put the smallest flag on a car like that (such as a 32nd F1) that I could find (Revell? Monogram?), try to hide it best I could and just deal. they were race cars after all, not shelf models. and the slot was not perfectly smooth so you needed a little length.
that wasn't the hardest thing when building one of those cars, either. the chassis (and motor) was the key. heck, I even put a 26D in one of 'em and had to snap the body on! it was a real handfull. and if I hadn't qualified for the feature on the inner lane, I might've even won with the thing! everybody else was running 8D's. but it got everybody's attention and it was great fun. (probably explains why I'm a punch-and-blip guy to this day!)
I was in high school. but if I did my best and tried to make it look as scale as I could (and I did), no matter how fast it was, I always passed tech. even if it stuck out a little and you could see it, there was a limit. the pin cars were undriveable.
that said, I admire your work. brings me back.

A piece of .047 piano wire inside a WD-40 red squirt tube makes a good pin for pin cars. I think this idea originated with Al Penrose.

Put the finishing touches on my Danny Kladis tribute car today!
I am very happy with the way this thing turned out. it runs great, and I think it looks pretty good also
it is not perfect,but it is a racer! It is probably the most fun car I have to drive,scale speed and handling are perfect for my track
The wheels and tires could have been better,the decals could have been straighter,the bumpers could have been more correct,etc.etc.,but the truth is,it is my first attempt at a scratchbuild this small,and im ahappy as hell with it!
Anyone wanting to build one of these should jump in as it is a very fun build! I want to thank Shotgun Dave for all the help and inspiration,without his midget build thread I would not have undertaken this project.As I figured,i want a whole fleet of these things,and frame 2 is already on the jig,Bodies are on the way! hope you all enjoy,and give me some feedback as to what needs improvement in the looks department.

Just to give an idea of the size of this racer,the nerfs and bumpers are made from paper clips!

Tires and wheeks are Artin pro 1/43,they hook up nice even on a dusty track

I have had several requests regarding this build and the twin I just finished,i will try and do a little more step by step on the next one.'i will be building at least six ,and have a couple of Daves bodies on the way for some variation in the pack.
My photography skills are not great(as you can tell) but I will do my best.
