14 Series Wheels On Scalextric MGB

In one of the posts it was asked how the new 14 series wheels would work on this car.

I just finished the mod and they work very well.



Made the insert from stock wheel.



I prefer Paul Gage tires so that is what I used. They need to be sanded and profiled.



In my opinion they are as good as it gets.

Great wheels, I bought some.
Initially I thought I saw a fault on the lip of of the rim (just seen in Harry's pic) but the mark indicates where the grubscrew is located on the rear side.
That MGB looks great by the way.

Does anyone know:
How wide that PG tire is? (hopefully around .25")
The diameter of the 14x6 wheel? (<= .475 dia.?) 14 mm is .551" too big! I'd need a 12x6

The tire is 8.50 MM from sidewall to sidewall. It is not a direct slip on as you have to sand the inside sidewall in order for it to clear the chassis and body. I used that tire as it was what I had and I liked the sidewall scale effect.

Wheel is 13.90 MM at the center rib and 12 at the rim.

So the 14x6 insert wheel measures 13.90 MM at the center rib (hence the 14) and 12 at the rim, which is .472.The Sprite proxy limits the wheel dia. to .475, so this should work! And a PG tire XPG- 20062
