Mercedes C9 Gulf Completed

Postby ListerStormGT » Sun May 04, 2014 9:18 pm

I picked up a Slot It white kit of the Sauber C9. It has been awhile since I have done a Gulf car so I thought why not try one on this car. I didn't want the traditional light blue, so I used the metallic light blue I used on Harry's GT40 at the top of this forum. I was able to get the paint on today and just finished some of the decals. I have more decals on the way with number plates and more sponsors. I still have some holes to knock out of the decals where the antenna's and other parts go but here it is right now. I'm not used to seeing a Gulf car in this color blue but I think it works? Its just a fantasy car anyway.

The bloke's a genius.
It's got that silvery look of all good German racecars and it's a gulf scheme which isn't hard to look at either.
He's an Ideas man is our Lee !!!

That is very neat looking Lee. Should make a statement when it's finished. Now that's thinking outside the box. :)

Just finished this one up. I will say this, I don't plan on doing another Mercedes white kit I will just buy a finished version. With that said I am happy with how it came out in the end and I really like this blue with the Gulf orange. I just have to put a Hawk motor in it and its done. It should look good out on the track with the other Slot It's.

Looks great as usual, Lee. How'd you like that teeny tiny amber lamp in front of the headlights? They gave me fits. My kit was missing the little air scoop on the right of the cockpit and now that I see yours I may have to make one.

I have been experimenting with clear sprays over silver, trying to get a gray-green for a car I have in mind, and what you have there is just right, but in blue cast. My combinations have come out in pretty colors but much brighter than I want.
