Finished the chassis.

I used the PM motor bracket from SCC and assorted K&S brass.



Had everything EXCEPT the right bushings so I had to improvise. I sleeved 3 sizes of tubing to fit inside the bracket, soldered and then trimmed out the center.



As HRW Jim puts it, this is "Ozark Engineering" at it's best :)



Painted and ready for assembly.

I like it.. Harry did you use a primer before painting? Been gonna paint one one day and bought some self etching primer but haven't tried it yet.

No primer sir. Just sanded and cleaned then dusted a couple coats. Once dry I gave it a heavier coat. But no matter how you do it, it will chip and wear over time. I just shoot it to subdue it for the most part and to hide my bad soldering/brass skills.



Have it in running trim for testing. SCC spoked classics for this one.



It won't win any awards but it's smooth and fun to drive.

I haven't seen that telescoping tubing for bushings in decades. I always thought it was more elegant than the usual Oilites. When it lined up just right, they work like ball bearings.

Years ago, people used to make those on both ends of an F-1 chassis. Like I say, elegant. You did great. Makes me want to do some this way.

Well, been awhile to update this one. But today I finished this. Not perfect by a long shot but it will race.









Have the new Trackmate installed and we have been running some great laps. Not bad times really, should be an easy last place finisher :)





This was a LOT of fun. It is something different and it runs right with the Scaleys too. Hopefully I can make a few more in the near future.
