Cunningham C1 for International Proxy Series 2014

Felt like posting my entry for the 2014 IPS seeing as I don't expect it will look anything like this by the time I get it back.

The chassis is an MRRC clubman sitting on RS SlotRacing wheels.


The shell is a Munter cast Cunningham C1.


Paint water based green acrylic 'ink' over gold Mr Magic spray.

Some adjustment required to the chassis to allow a regular guide to be fitted instead of the lead guide that the Clubman chassis comes with.

The driver is a Munter re-cast of a Ninco classic sitting in a Munter vac-formed tray. He sits a bit higher than is really appropriate, I suppose. But I didn't have time to fiddle further. Besides I've never actually tackled something like this. It'll do for this time.


I struggled to get the replacement grill with the kit to fit as well as I wanted, so I used mesh for the grills. Only two of these cars ever raced, so I didn't think anyone would be too upset with a few liberties. Another liberty was the half-height windscreen. BWA inserts sprayed with Tamiya Silverleaf.

Green and Gold with Aussie airforce roundels. Embs has certainly gone all patriotic on this one.

Great work Lynne. I love seeing what others do with shells I have cast.

As a master I used a resin copy of the old Aurora kit. The grill was badly done so I include a better copy of the grill.

My build is still half finished.

Lynne, beautiful work (as usual). I like how you used the RAAF roundels ala Briggs Cunningham used the old US Army Flying service ones on his cars.

Thanks for the very kind words. This is actually my very first completed resin. Many have been started but very few have made it to the track. Yes, even the Spridget is in a holding pattern currently. One thing about entering a proxy, it makes you get things finished. Deadlines are sometimes a good thing.

The RAAF roundels just seemed right at the time. As you say, a play on the Cunningham livery. Did Australia ever actually get allocated official race colours?

I really don't give this car any hope at all. It weighs a ton because of the resin and metal chassis. I don't expect anything more than bottom of the list. There are some very experienced builders in this proxy. Plus it allows plastic RTR cars as well. Just as long as it's got the NC1 equivalent motor and Ninco Classic tyres.

Nice work Embs! I like the color and the extra work to the glass and lights really makes it for me.

I am very intrigued with the new MRRC chassis and am glad you used it. I'd like to get one and try it out as well.
