How about this, remove the center section of your axle tube, add some struts from each tube to the chassis for durability, & make your front wheels in-dee-pen-dant. Then add a guide tounge in that area.

I have that steering wheel designed in CAD, laser cut out of 1/16" ply used for my 1/10 scale 1954 Breathless hydroplane. I wrapped it with thin cloth and CA glue to give it the period leather look. I bet it could be reduced to 1/32 scale and cut on 1/16 birch ply. We are also doing some 1mm ABS soon and I'll have my lasershop burn some out and send it to you, PM me your address.

Yes, the goggles are hand carved out of balsa!

Here is the finished Breathless U-22 maidened in Lake Tahoe, Camp Richardson this past summer, exactly the same spot they raced from in 1954 :banana-dance:

You guys are too fun! Thankfully, Harry has us covered at least digitally, our central home is here on HRW. Imagine the trouble I'd get in with the Miniser of Finance if we were all on the same block, krickey. The Breathless U-22 hydroplane is totally trick. I designed an existing CAD file and build the whole thing, need to start a separate thread on it. You should see the 1/4 scale German sailplane I'm building...
