Chaparral 2D build

Postby VTECFOUR » Sat Dec 21, 2013 3:44 pm

Jumped on this Top Slot Chaparral 2D kit that was sitting in my closet for years.

Image

Nice body kit with nary a pinhole and just a bit of flash to trim. Gave it a shot of Tamiya fine white primer and then finished it off with Tamiya Racing White.

The chassis is the neat BWA adjustable wheelbase that unfortunately is no longer available. Fitted Slot It 15 x 8 rims and Chaparral inserts and it's powered by a Patto's Little Ripper with a 9/28 gear ratio.

Runs and looks just fine.

Just need to put in the interior tray/driver and I'm finished.

Dan That looks great. I love that car. I have two older bodies I picked up from who knows were? I have one mounted and just haven't finished it. I think now it's time. Jim

That's a great looking build!

I wish one of the main manufacturers would put out this car. It's a looker and ran in at least three different configurations, so there's room for multiple versions off of one mold. Racer was supposed to put it out in Silverline. Hopefully it will see the light of day.

Goosenapper,

I have been hearing some strong rumors that we will have a Chaparrl 2D from Slot.It in 2014.

Hopefully that will suffice to make your day! :happy-wavemulticolor:

Consider my day as made! :happy-partydance:

Slot.it is certainly more affordable than Racer. That's great news!

Nicely done Dan. I have always considered the 2D probably the best looking of all the Chaparrals.

Would love to see it in the flesh: when are you out here again?

A Slot It release would be great!

On mine, the front tires are a bit square looking, so I'll try to find some rounder sidewall ones.

Super Slab: You can have a look and give it a run after my arrival on January 11.
