Thanks Ember. It is very reminiscent of a place I used to take my orphans to. It was a garage called English Motors run by a bombastic British "engineer" accustomed to commanding colonials. He had two Bahamians doing the work, both of whom became good friends of mine over the years and who eventually took over the shop. The surviving partner retired about 5 years ago and returned to the Bahamas. I only found out recently that his father was a long time premiere of one of the islands and that despite the humble surroundings of the garage, he was a very wealthy individual. His gentle eloquence and quiet dignity should have been a giveaway.
The garage was tiny and cluttered with dimly lit corners hiding all manner of treasures to explore. It was always an experience to visit and I never minded waiting if he was busy with another customer.
