They all look real good to me !
One thing I suggest ,paint the inside white.
Two reasons,One is to brighten up the inside of the booth.
Two is to seal the particle board and keep it from causing dust problems
in the paint.

I thought about painting my spray booth, but I reasoned that it would soon get coated with all kinds of paint as the booth was used. I had no problem with dust from the particle board, but it had been around for a while. I should mention at this point that I am not overly fond of particle board, even though I tried to be careful I got some cuts from the stuff. I only used it because it was free. If you were starting with new material it might be a wise precaution to seal it.
If you expect to use water based paints that might be expected to damage chip board, so a sealer would be good.

I have wood.

$9.00 at Lowes and had them cut it.

Now just need to take my shelves down, build new ones, and redecorate.

I will paint it to seal it.

The fan I have is a beast. Got it from a second hand and works great. My vent system will be a little different but it will do the job.

So here is the fan I picked up.



We have a re-sell shop that have all sorts of items from home re-models. It was a $1.25



Here the area for the booth. The concrete shelf it sits on is actually what they call a "cap" around here. It was poured to reinforce this old foundation back in the early 90's when the entire house was rebuilt. Now you know why the oval track is so high :)

Behind it was a window. A very poor window as it let cold air in so I sealed it with OSB when I first started to get the mancave ready for racing.



Which is sealed on the outside as well. The vent will be here.

Now onto the box construction.

Thanks Dave! Yes, now that it is finished I ask myself why it took me this long to make one.

The light is a simple 6 dollar drop/flood lamp from Wal-Mart. I use these for taking photos and they are really are a great little light.

Just cut a hole for the fitting to drop in. Then the metal shade tightens it up nicely.





Still needs another coat to look nicer, but it is sealed and will finish that tomorrow. Other than that, it's done!

Again though...I'm concerned about fumes though since I'm shooting auto paint. I also can't punch a hole in my house at the moment and would have to build something for a crank-out window.

they make a filter box from charcoal, I bet that would cut down on the fumes, and you would not need to run it outside

Using charcoal to absorb organic vapours will work, but only for a short time because the charcoal will get depleted. Venting the vapours outside is really the best thing to do. If you expect to do a great deal of painting it might be better to use an air brush or sprayer with water based paint as much as possible.

It looks like I got a lot of wheels turning when I started this thread! I like the window adapter that whitworthnut included with his spray booth. I will have to make one of those for when I use mine upstairs.

I had some Lexan hanging around so made an adapter to fit in a kitchen window.
