Showing slots at static model show

Took 5 of the "static - slot" builds to a model car show today.

Main purpose was see ideas, and buy kits from the toy show there as well.

Didn't know what to expect, was interesting how little - no reaction there was to the slot cars.

Took two of my best ovals, two VW's, and a 34 Ford Panel custom.

I run all my cars so the "extra's" are not there to the degree of the statics.

Not sure if it was the scale (only 1/32's there), all had tons of future or wax polish, and showed them on track so there was no mistake what they were.

Picked up 2 Fairlane's, a T-Bird, couple NASCARS, to name a few.

Not bummed, enjoy our world, but interesting what "our cousins" thought!

That is cool that you brought them to the show. I am surprised that there wasn't more interest. I wounder if they would be more interested if they were 1/25 scale?I just went to a model show yesterday. Picked up some 1/32 kits cheap. There was a vendor there selling some older slot cars with reasonable prices. Picked up a couple and going back to see him soon to pick up a few more.

congrats on your "finds"!!

Picked up 9 kits my self for an average price of $10. each.

Continue to pick up snaptite Nascars for $3.00 each.

Must have 15 of them.

Set up two Truxmore's one for the GM products and another for the Fords.

Then I interchange the bodies. Have 10 more to build.

A very good value 15 cars for the price of two truxmores and $3- $5 bodies!!!

As to the 1/32 vs. 1/25th I thought that would be a novelty, plus they all are used on a track.

Hung out for 3 hours and had 2 or 3 express any interest.

I have been wanting to do this for some time. First Saturday of each month is a model club meet at a local fire hall. Not sure what kind of reception to expect.

It would really be nice to have a nice shop with a track in the area. The local shop is 95% e-bay sales. It is only open from about November-May. 5 hours on Friday and Saturday. No track set up and no chance of getting one. Also, the shop has no heat. It is essentially a warehouse for the internet sales opened up a couple of hours per week during the winter.

We talked him in to letting us do a slot car display at a local train show in December. Perhaps if we can generate enough interest it might help us plead our case and get a track set up in his shop. I have one in the basement but it is really too cramped to house more than a couple of people. I filled the space with all the track I could and left little room for drivers. :dance:

Be sure and post some pictures of the display there in December.

I figure the static model and train guys (and girls too!) have to be first cousins to us!!

There is another static show in November and I am going to take several cars there and see if I can generate some interest.

Have a 59 Impala and Caddy in non racing trim and will see if that makes a difference.

PS: I too stuffed a 125 feet of track in a small bedroom and 4 is the limit!
