Is Goo Gone OK for use on bodies?

I recently tried stripping an old Ninco Ferrari 250TR, but found that the body wasn't painted after all, and merely was bare plastic with stickers applied. The stickers came off following a night spent in an alcohol bath and with a little scrubbing, but I can't seem to get the glue residue completely off of the body. I generally clean a body with regular Dial soap before painting, but even that isn't able to completely remove the glue. That leaves me thinking that Goo Gone would probably get the job done, but I'm concerned that it may adversely impact the body. I'd rather not melt or warp this particular body as it would be hard to replace.

:?: Has anyone successfully used Goo Gone on a slot car body, or failing that, are there other alternatives that I should first try?

I would just wet sand those areas a little sir.

Also a little Ronsonol lighter fluid on a paper towel works sometimes.

That Goo Gone stuff will eat the plastic. Been there...sadly.

Thanks for the insight, Harry. I'll soak some sandpaper overnight and will give it a go tomorrow.

It's a shame that you've experienced the Goo Gone eating a car first-hand, but that's the very reason that I asked. Thanks for the caution on that.

did you try WD40 ? I use that to remove the sticker glue off of the plastic windshield of my snowmobile every year and it works

A lot of times to remove adhesive residue I use good ol' Ductape. Take a piece that fits the area, burnish down and lift slowly. The residue will usually stick to the Ductape, if not just repeat until it's all gone. No body damage from chemicals, or sanding. :)

I have had some great results with finger nail polish remover the acetone in it won't hurt plastic the down side is it takes a bit to get the sticky stuff off.
but it works.

Thanks for the alternatives, guys. I've got residue stuck on a couple of places on the car, so I'll give each method a go.
