It was neat to see the insides of that old car, and then what you did to modernize it. It's odd that the stock lighting system had a couple of honking capacitors on it. Those are about the size of ones that I've seen in Fender amplifiers. Thanks for sharing!

I'm redoing a Jaguar 220XJ. Neat looking cars, but the chassis leaves some to be desired. I'm working on the chassis right now. They can be made into some decent runners. :) I have the Mercedes cars in a twin pack, one silver, one black. :)

Goose, you and I have something in common. I saw a familiar arrangement, too. My oldest preamps sections are all tubes (the ones I use for bluesy stuff, and really old), but the solid state Fender stuff my sons left behind definitely have similar if not identical capacitors. The old stuff Leo Fender used before Fender became a name he wasn't part of, (the beginning of G&L guitars), pre-dated the components, but the later Fender amps had them, for sure.

a scaley inline. how about i was wondering if the big caps were for keeping the lights on. that's seripous stuff. i never saw one of those (used to the 24's). not a bad idea, imho. assume that they'd blocked 'em from the track feed with diodes as well.

well, that's pretty cool. does one of the caps charge from the generated voltage of the motor under braking or does it charge under power and switch in when you short the track? just curious as that sounds like something useful, at least as far as the rear lights go.
(sorry about typos in prev. post)
