Crystal Case Cover Proxy

What an absolutely awesome FUN-FILLED day yesterday was. The reason for that was running another "leg" of this proxy race.

We travelled "up north" to Jacksonville and made a group of new slot car friends and shared in a day of awesome racing with some old friends. It don't get much better than that!

There were 8 racers there, 8 lanes & 9 cars. A clever suggestion was made to assign names to the cars rather then the racers. The racers drove all 9 cars on the lane they were on, so each each of the Proxy cars got to be sampled by each of the racers. A lot of comments on each of the cars were being made on each lane change. I think that all the racers were winners using this format.

Torque Mutant and his lovely much better half ran the show in a way that everyone enjoyed and made it an outstanding event for all participants at the raceway. I do believe everyone - observers included - enjoyed themselves. I am basing that on all the smiles and chatter I both saw and heard. There was an instance in the race where all of the cars were "neck to neck" coming out of the lead-on to the main straight. I heard someone say, "It's like a herd of galloping turtles!"

A fun day with some very close racing. How close? You're just have to wait on Torque Mutant for that!

A final bit of information on the event at DeBary Glen Raceways on their 66 foot wood routed track, Palm Bay, is the breakdown of the points earned by each car. Just for fun, we are including the names for the cars. "Names?" you ask. Yes, the fun and whimsical nature of this proxy race just seemed to warrant names for the cars. Ever see the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds?" We did not have an Eleanor, but we named them based on their personality.

The points are shown below. Next up will be the race at The Race Place in Holly Hill, Florida, so stay tuned.

I must say this, I must I must . . . . . without a doubt this has been one of the most FUN activities that I have ever participated in, ever. I'm talking slot racing activities.

Why it has worked out this way I am not 100% sure, but I think many factors have come together to make it so. I think the very simple rules have contributed. Without a doubt all the creativity shown in the entries has further enhanced the enjoyment as well.

Hopefully this will soon be retitled to "The 1st Annual Crystal Case Cover Proxy Race".

Thus far the overall performance of the cars has been excellent, especially considering the varying venues we have run them on. A simple curving of the braids downward is all that is needed to make the car run well.

I am looking forward to reading more of the results from all the proxy hosts.

Anyone else for making this an annual event?

I totally agree with you Marty. I am working on a video for the Jacksonville race that will, I think, show some of the excitement we experienced. As for this becoming an annual event... I sure hope so. My hobby is all about fun and the distraction it provides from everyday "hum-drum". I'm all for this level of fun. Thanks Slot Car Corner for supporting this Florida Tour. It's good to know that we have good friends that support our hobby.

The battle for 2nd is between the 3 Quebecans, so I'm sure there is some bantering going on in the French language about now... :lol: But even with that, they have taken over the lead in the Team category :banana-rock:

We have that covered, nhdungeonracer. Everywhere we have taken these cars, all types of comments are said about what are the favored cars. While I don't intend on letting the cat out of the bag... entries from the great white north have impressed this audience.

It's really easy to produce great reports when your day is filled with both FUN & JOY!

The race at Slot Car Raceways & Hobbies in Jacksonville was one of those experiences that puts a "Chesire Cat" type of smile on your face that just lingers. Kind of like BBQ sauce in your moustache. Know what I mean, Vern?

So many good things took place - I've been told videos are coming - so I'll just wait for the full report to be posted.
