I'm still detailing the Alfa. I decided to start the Mercedes so I wouldn't rush the Alfa and screw it up. I'm also waiting for another set of wheels for it. The ones I have on it are actually for my Aston Martin Ulster. Peter Seager Thomas is putting together a slightly different set for me including see-through wires for the spares and they're not quite ready yet.

Everything seems to fit. Looks like it's time to disassemble and paint. Candy apple red fenders, ivory body and black wheels/upholstery. Wire wheels by Penelope Pitlane.

Not a lot of progress, although I do have some colour on the Benz now. I've decided to go with a set of Peter Seager Thomas' wheels rather than Penelope Pitlane and he is waiting for a re-supply. I took the car for its inaugural run and it out performs my vintage Scalextrics by miles, both from a handling perspective as well as speed, which I expected. I'm very happy with it so far. Lots of detailing left to do.

Your build looks great. I think the Sportwagen will stand up to a little more abuse as it has full fenders and running boards. I was a little discouraged with it at first as none of the kit parts had any effective alignment tabs. It has turned out well though and I think will be one of my favourites too. It is beefy and seems to hold the track well. Certainly an impressive machine next to most of the others in my collection. I also have the Matchbox SSK to be built once I do one of my MG Magnettes.

Great job, Peter. Good choice for a 1:1 car for inspiration, too. I can't wait to see it next to the Alfa.
