I had a set of these on order, then decided that for the difference between $129.99 and $169.99 I'd just get the regular racing set, and for another forty bucks I'd have more track, and a couple of spare sport controllers & an extra power supply. Makes sense if you're trying to accumulate track right? so i switched my order. I got a small surprise. The collector's set is a little different than the boxed collecors set. The collectors set cars have working lights, lighly tinted class, and drivers. The racing set cars are resilients. No drivers, though there is an interior, dark "glass" and no working lights. No other noticeable differences. Having owned a real 1970 Challenger I could not reist the model, and for what I got in the way of supplies plus my LHS giving me a little break off MSRP, not a bad deal. Going forward I'll want either the white one or a T/A livery though. Assuming the tooling will be the same, they have "softened" the curves a little, and the hood bulge seems a little lower than it should be. Overall it captures the essence of the car though. I remember you had to guess where the right front fender was when you parked because of the hood scoops, and I remember needing that hood bulge so that the Hi Rise intake & air cleaner would fit & let me close the hood. What a car! Had trouble keeping rubber on it though!
