Sorry to be a pest but how much of this "You can cut the chassis to fit your body of choice" are we allowed to do? I'm leaning toward using the Monogram chassis but the wheelbase is too long so the chassis needs to be shortened or the front axle location needs to be moved. Do we need to use the rather odd Monogram axle holder assembly or can it be changed to something more conventional?

As long as what you do is to make the wheel base fit your chosen body, slicing the chassis and removing a section is fine. Other then that no, as to adding foreign parts.

What is a "foreign part"? The chassis is only a slab of plastic. Everything else has to be added to it. You should be able to mount your axles however you like.

I may be wrong about this, bkrownd, but I don't think this is a democracy. Mark dreamed this whole thing up, and the rules were published more or less the same day as the invitation. Essentially, its Mark's race and he made the rules... a month ago.

Here is the complete contents of a newly opened Revell-ogram Galaxie stocker chassis kit: (minus 2 screws stuck to the other side of one of the magnets)

To me the "chassis" is strictly the big slab of plastic at the top, and I never had any intention to use any of the extra bits below which I don't consider part of the "chassis".

From the photos you posted I think what you're calling "axle holders" would be more clearly labelled as "bushing mounts"? In most cases the bushing mounts are part of the chassis structure, except in the front of the Revell-ogram chassis where a separate block has the bushing mounts. I already cut off the mounting posts for that block in the front of my chassis, because my resin body has places to attach front bushing mounts directly to the body.

It's important to be clear about ALL of the essential details up front. Even these responses are a bit vague. Anyhow, at this point since I'm quite a way along in the process of building a car according to the original rules, I'll just continue on that path. Getting wheels under this thing will be difficult enough as it is.

Are we going to have a minimum clearance under the car? (excluding sidewinder gears) Have track owners requested one? I want to get that checked before doing anymore cutting or parts ordering.

When is money going to change hands for entry fees? Any time up to the car's arrival?

I assume nobody is going to apply a micrometer to the car to check scale accuracy? The companies always fudge a little bit here and there on the models.

I'm sad to say the Yellow Dogs that fit on the 15x7 rim look a little goofy under my car, scale-wise. :cry:

how about just taking the rules as they are posted. If you use the mandated chassis`s, and the mandated wheels/tires you will not have a problem with track clearances anywhere. I`m not sure why this would even be a issue unless your cutting the stock chassis in another way then was presented in the rules,or was previously discussed.
If you choose a body with obstructions that don`t allow the Carrera or Monogram chassis to fit in any way other than wheel base. Then you need to cut your body to fit the chassis you choose. It`s really not this hard man, it`s a simple car build.
