If you're doing OK with acrylicss you should do fine with lacquers. The pigment grind is generally finer, which means the paint will be more forgiving through the airbrush. Tip dry will be less of a problem as well. Two things to remember with any Alclad paint:
Your black base needs to be smooth as a baby's bottom, because imperfections will show through the Alclad
You should be spraying the Alclad at lower pressure, 8-10 PSI. I'd suggest a gravity feed airbrush as well, Their control is better than siphon feeders for something like this, but if you are any good at painting, use what you have. If you have multiple tips I'd change to medium or fine. Shoot a couple of test panels using sheet styrene and see what gives you the best results. They don't have to be big. 2 inches square will work
