Yeah, going into that final rotation, four drivers had to deliver a solid lead so Dave had a fighting chance running the final heat in the slow lane. Every guy delivered, and Cloverleaf definitely didn't make it easy -- they ran well under pressure, too. High quality racing right to the end. :)
Dave also made a key decision in the wee hours of the morning (21st heat) to go after the handling problems right away, instead of waiting. If we'd waited, we'd have had one more heat with the car giving up half a second per lap. That would have cost us about 190 seconds, or about 25 laps.
For you guys who have never tried endurance racing, there is so much more strategy than normal racing. Hopefully you will give it a shot one day. It'll wear you out, and about 8 hours into it you'll wonder why you're doing this, but by the end, you'll be glad you did. :)
