WOW!! and COOL!!!
Great to have this one back again.
It makes a lot of sense to have either rubber or urethanes but not both, I would prefer rubber over urethane but only if the track is dust free.
Would it be possible to allow tyres and rims to be 8.5mm wide, just saves having to narrow the 8.2 rims and also leaves more surface area for the glue to hold the tyre in place.
I used NSR tyres (5241) and rims (5002) on the Cheetah and had to trim the rims and tyres to make the 8mm max.
I'm in, #35 please, I will build a new car for this.
Was there a concours?

Just to clarify a point on wheels and tires.

The original intent last season (which was the first season of the SCCA Proxy), was to keep the wheels and tires looking period. We didn't want any 9mm, 10mm, 11mm or 12mm rear tires showing up in a class comprised of cars that ran up to 1965 and not beyond. The post of 15x8 was meant to be a "nominal 15x8", so that wheels from manufacturers like Slot.It, CBDesign, NSR and others would be legal. The intent was never to give a wheel dimension that precluded the use of these very common wheels. I believe that the width of the Slot.It wheels is actually 8.2mm, which, from the standpoint of period look, is, essentially, the same as 8.0mm.

As far as tires go, I know from experience that a little sanding of the sidewalls of most rubber tires will bring you well within the 8mm rule. Again, the intent of this rule was to discourage the use of 9mm or wider tires on nominal 8mm rims - which I have seen often...….. The intent, again, was to remain period in the look of the tires. So, if the wheels are nominal 15x8, and are actually 8.2mm, then I think that similarly profiled tires should be OK.

Those of you who know me, know that all of the proxies that I set up over the past 4 years were meant to be inclusive races; not exclusive races. It was never my intent to exclude potential racers based on an inability, say, to machine 8.2mm wheels down to 8.0mm or to force people to 7mm rims with an 8mm rule.

I hope this makes life and building a little easier.

On my 904, which has CBD wheels, with the sidewalls sanded on both sides I have measurements of 8.51mm and 8.64mm but they are as close to the rim as possible. I agree w Allan's thought process here of being under 9mm but closer to 8.xx

Concourse, or, Concours ??.....a Concourse is generally found in a Hotel or Convention Center,... a Concours is a competition among car owners on the appearance of their cars, as in a Concours d'Elegance ......far from a big deal, but, they do mean entirely different things, ......and, we are having a competition on the appearance of our cars ;)

Cancel that GT40 entry. It appears that in '65 it ran in Europe and at Sebring, but I can't find it in any SCCA races

I'll come up with something else.

Just a quick note to Mitch58 and, perhaps, some others. If you read the Overview of this proxy, you'll find that it's open to: "cars that competed in the SCCA National Sports Car Championship (1951-64) and the first 3 years of the SCCA United States Road Racing Championship, which ran 1963-68."

Skip Scott ran a Ford GT40 MkI at the MId-Ohio USRRC race in 1965 - the car was #92, chassis #1010, sponsored by Essex Wire. So, the GT40 Mk1 (but not the MkII, or MkIV or the J-car), is legal for this series. We played it down last year because we didn't want the proxy to devolve into a Slot.It/NSR Ford GT40 MkI dominated series. But, under the rules, the Mk1 is legal.

I'll re-enter my GTO 250 #24 under the modified, though it is stock it has a pod.
I'll also enter an older MRRC Ferrari 275 under the production class #69
Thanks for the info Allan. My GT40 is set up but like you I would hate to see a great proxy like this turn into a GT40 slugfest.
I really enjoyed the variety of cars we had last year.
