Hmmm...does someone have a 300+ horsepower Ford Focus RS in the background of a picture? Nice car, excuse me nice job of hoisting the track. Alwyn you are sandbagging...:)

Ok I’ll chirp in...have been working with the Hurracan with different chassis stiffness and motor options with a 1.0mm Slot.it pod. Still .3 seconds off pace of BMW M1. Strange because all measurements of wheelbase, rear axle to guide, rear track are all favorable ... just not as consistent and smooth as M1. Tried Scale Auto Corvette with Slot.it pod and could not dial out the chatter when pushed. Have seen that people have favorable comments about the SA Viper.
Camber, CGY and F1 Fan what are you and the rest really scheming to use? Smokeio, Chris Guy W, Audi 1 and that all knowing one GasCarNut we know you have something up your sleeves? Interestingly have not seen much feedback on NSR cars...oh well time to ponder and hopefully not lament.

I too have the Orange Scaleauto Corvette C7, sidewinder .5 offset pod, ebay 25K motor, was happy enough with it on urethanes and no weight yet, no chatter, have swapped over to supegrips, waiting to test again
Scalextric Audi R8 with slotting plus 3dp chassis and sidewinder .75 offset pod, 20k shark motor ( probably not enough) going Ok, still sorting some front end chatter no weight as yet
Scaley Porsche 911 with PCS chassis and 3dp inline pod, 25K ebay motor, 10/28 gearing, still on urethanes, seems quick enough just sorting weight balance, then tyre change to supergrips and see what its got

doubt I'll get past the qualifying stage but hey, gotta have a crack

So... not being ones to do things the easy way. I'm going join the Dark Side and build a Brass Scratch built. Looking back to some of my 1/24th scratchbuilding days. 50 years ago... just a little rust to scrape away. Oh yeah... and I will be using a Carrera body:

1: Because I have one and it's Purdy and Painted. Did I mention I'm lousy at painting?.

2: I like a challenge. Lets see how light I can get this Carrera Z4. People may be surprised...

3: It's not gonna be a SW and It's not gonna be an AW. Cause I'm following Chrisguyw's lead...

Chris, thank for the post. I dont mind. At this point in my testing I havent been conerned with the details, and plan on doing matching wheel sizes.

I was careful not to lower the body any more than a nsr car comes from the factory, and the front splitters when re-attached will cover any small guide protrusion. I did trim the side of the body slightly, but mostly to increase track clearance. Even though stock NSR cars actually come much lower than my car is now.

I havent modded the wheel wells on any cars. The holes in the body will of course be filled.

I race 1:1 cars for a living, i understand the importance of reading the rulebook! Hence me stealing clarification on rules with you.

BARC Racing suffered a little set back today. Testing was going extremely well with race gearing and the race tires trued the car was turning times equal to a mag chassis on my Carrera track as it broke through the elusive 4 second lap time After a heavy shunt I noticed some clearance between the left wheel and the track. Turns out the whole left rail was lose as the solder joint at the rear axle broke free.

So it was torn down and the frame laid up in the soldering jig, where it sits now cooling down.

You guys know how this goes. Will it attain the “magic” that it had or has the geometry that was working so well be lost.

I resoldered using higher temp silver solder, so hopefully this will strenthen the rear end. Then the components will be reattached to the frame, and back to the track .

As I have the rest of the summer planned out and will be away a lot. This was the last real testing I was going to be doing on this car,other than a shake out in Edmonton.

Murphys law. Oh well, on the bright side the car will have a stronger rear end,and perhaps this is a blessing in disguise, as this type of failure would have been terminal in the proxy.

Oliver from Professor Motor has just shipped me a nice assortment of " Goodies". Once they arrive.. I shall go into " Skunk Works " mode. :mrgreen:
