Red lock tite actually does a pretty good job of holding plastic gears on. But I would agree, not worth the risk.

Dariusz mentioned the same thing about the nylon pinion, so I should probably take heed. Not sure why I have stayed with nylon. I have some brass ones. Once I am sure about the gearing and before the car is shipped it will get a brass pinion

Body width is going to dictate the speed of these cars somewhat it seems. A lot of the previous group 5 bodies look very wide. The three I have built so far all measure differently and it has a huge effect on the performance and ability to fit wide rear tires. What are some of the widths you guys are working with?

Scaley Aston gt3 = 60.5mm
Carrera Aston gt3 =62.2mm
Scaleauto Corvette C7r = 64.8mm

Appreciate the updates Dan, keep them coming! The wheelbase looks short, car looks light, motor looks strong! :D

For everyone's benefit I want to make sure you all review the rules, as they will be enforced. Hard to tell from the picture, but please note front tyres need to be at least 7mm wide.

Thanks for the feed back. This gear ratio is over 3,and was turning midpack group 5 times on the Edmonton track. The front end with some wobble on my independant set up, and some slop in the drop arm was preventing Dariuzs from really pushing it. I have corrected that, and will see where this shakes out next time I am in Edmonton. Again a big shout out to the guys in Edmonton for the track time. I am finding the testing I am doing on my small plastic set up is just about useless for this type of racing,and only on the big Edmonton track am I getting useful info on my build and set up. Agree that it is a very fine line on the gearing. You need something easy to drive to give the driver confidence,but still want it fast enough to be in the hunt.

Curious, I had wanted to run a Viper as a MOPAR man myself. But I had the Lambo on the shelf. You said your Vipers are kicking the Lambo to the curb. Is your Lambo stock with the 17K motor? I see one of the Vipers is running a 32K NSR motor. Are these ScaleAuto or RevoSlot? What size motor is in the other car? Don't want to bring a butter knife when I should be bringing a Canon. I did that already as with my Group 5 car.

Thanks for that information. I knew there was a post about the RevoSlot as to if it was eligible. Now do I drop the coins to test a Viper against my Lambo? Or just do the upgrades I had planned and hope/pray that it is competitive!!!!! :think:
