Scaley TAs tires same as Pioneer Mustang ???

Hey everybody
I do appreciate the Paul Gauge tire chart being available in pdf format as requested.
BUT I hate to say the first set of tires I looked up were the scaley TAs and they seemed
to be the same part number as the Pioneer Mustang. After a look at both of these cars I noticed
that the tire does not have the same sidewall height.
Are these tires made larger to fit all, and require a large amount of sanding or too small to
to look proportional on the Pioneer.
Has anybody already tried the tires on these cars?? :think:
I would like to hear back from HRW before I order some

Fortunately, Paul's tires sand so easily that if a sidewall is too tall for the car, it's no problem to bring the diameter down. You may want to sand them with the body off, though, because there will be a lot of urethane dust that probably shouldn't take up residence inside the car.

I think I read your message to be saying is that on the tires you received had a the profile that was too low. I found the same thing a couple of years ago. Based on my post, Paul contacted me with more info on the tires that would fit my wheel as I wanted and even sent me a complementary set in the higher profile. (As a true slot car guy, he does follow these boards) I looked and found his email and will paste it here. "Hi Mike, I really liked the look of the PGT-22104R2 on your Mustang. I have taken it a step further and cast the same tire without the grooves... even nicer! Sent you a pair to inspect... cheers and thanks...paul"

Paul makes a number of tires different profile to fit the very common 15X 8 wheel as are used on Pioneer /Scalextric cars. Fly Classics and many Carrera cars also use that size wheels as do the SCC corner wheels of that size.

I just received a complimentary pair of tires from Paul in my last order. It was a pair of PGT 21124 XPG tires. I haven't mounted them yet but the profile appears to be about the same as the Scaley tires but they are wider. The package lists them for "Scalex +Pioneer T/A & Carrera COT.

I suggest that you write Paul and tell him what you need. He will get back to you with his recommendations. He is a very approachable guy who is a pleasure to do business with.
