Cool, glad you like it, Czar! Seems like the most interesting proxy ideas involve cars that haven't had the nicest things said about them. lol Guys who are performance-oriented tend to trash the front-motored cars, so they don't get the chance to shine too often.

Another one along those same lines is Fly's line of GP cars with their odd gear configuration, and that could be a neat proxy.

And another one might be a Pioneer "Show Jules the Love" proxy.

Leadfinger, I too had never entered a proxy race until last year when Austin put the Carrera GT race together. I had a great time seeing how my tuning skills campared to others around the country (skills not as good as I would have hoped). I also got feed back from the various hosts along the way and learned a lot. As for respect, yes, it is there and respect for everyone's car too. Mine was returned without a blemish after several hundred laps of racing. I hope you will consider joining us in this proxy, as I am sure your car will be well taken care of.

â—¦DR Vanski (gearing limited to 8/28)
â—¦M&T-1 and SL-1
â—¦Maximum width over the Tires is 2.000 inches, Tires may not stick out from the body to reach this measurement.
â—¦Maximum Wheel size is 15x7 front and back.
â—¦Max tire width on front is 9/3
â—¦Currently allowed rear tire
1.Indy Grip IG2002 and other Indy Grip tires that are not wider or taller in diameter.

Austin, it looks like you have put a lot of thought into your last post, bit I think it would make things a little too technical. One of the things I liked about your proxy was the relative simplicity of the rules. I really do like ElSecundo's idea of the front motored Fly cars. They are kind of oddballs in the slot world and represent a similar car to the GTs but from a different era. With the front motors they should make an interesting comparison to the Carrera cars. Are you still interested in running the two classes?

So something like this

Front Engine

-Street and racing sportscars with front motors utilizing driveshaft for power transfer. No mid motor cars as the scalextric Maserati
- Prototype cars such as Panoz LMP are not allowed.
-Stock Scalextric/Fly style 18,000 rpm Mabuchi motors or Carrera E200
-Minimum weight 3.2 oz.
-Max wheel width 11mm.
-3.0 to 1 or taller gear ratio (8/24)(9/27)(10/30), crown can be bigger

Austin I to have never entered a proxy race but I was wondering if I can enter a car from Australia the Carrera idea sounds good & I was
wondering when you will have the specs of the cars finalised ? also where do I send my car to & by what date ?

This class is set in stone, Richard everyone is welcome to enter, Thinking about mid to late summer

Carrera GT Class

1 Any 1990 or newer Carrera GT, GT1, GT2, GT3. body, chassis, interior, motor all from same car
2 All tires must be in stock location
3 May change guide, bushings, axles, gears, wheels & tires only
4 May add lead to any part of the car for weight
5 Must remove magnets
6 Must have your name on bottom of chassis
7 May lower or rise body
8 Each car will run at 10 volts, 6 minutes per lane at all tracks
9 May trim edges of chassis slightly
10 No cutting of body

The second class will be Front Engine. No real rules so far, any input is welcome

I am very excited to report that Austin and I are going to work together to make this dual proxy work! Austin will command the Carreras and I will be the Czar for the Fly racers. Maybe we should include other brands that have front motors? Since this is my first attempt at running a proxy I would appreciate any suggestions. A couple of things that I think are set for the Flys: no-magnets and they will run at 12 volts. If it will help convince someone who is sitting on the fence about joining, I can re-post results from Austin's inaugural proxy. I hope many of you will join us for the racing. We will post everything here, so stay tuned and stay in touch.
