Palmer /winneco Porsche 356

I found this old model kit on ebay. I thought I would take a chance on it,as I really like the 356 Body. Turns out it is a bit overscale for 1/24, but not so bad as to not build

it. I used an H&R spare chassis on this one, and dropped in a Ninco 5 motor. Cut down the wheels, and mounted up some of my own urethanes, and added a slotting plus guide, and SCC comp braid. Color is ACE brand aluminum base, and a clear coat to dull it down to the Porsche silver. Decals are from Gopher, I made the tonneau cover from heated sheet styrene, added a brass roll bar and driver figure. wheel inserts are from a AMT 36 ford kit. they are wide five ford, but look very similar to the VW style Porsche wheels.Still need to add a cut down windscreen, and a few more little details. Great running little car!

What a hoot!

Amazing to me that of all the repeating we see, that this model has not been done. Sadly, I know Carrera will never do it...but it should be.

Well done Bob!

Funny that Carrera is a German based company and the subject is also German. Licensing on a body style that old should not cost much. Ninco found a way to do it in 1/32, so it must be lack of interest? Either way i agree, would be a seller i think.

I always thought that it would be good to have the 356 from the Paul Newman movie, "Harper" to go with that James Dean 550 Spyder.

Like it. Never seen that kit body before.

I'm going to build a coupe from the Fujimi kit.

Picked this one up at a reasonable price as it was incomplete.

The wheels/tires were missing but the spare was there. It's beautifully detailed so I'm going to make a mold for future resin copies.
