Anybody tried the 132 Tamiya motor ?

I just ran across the Tamiya 132 motor up grades for the JR RC cars.
Has any body tried these in a slotcar ?

I was browsing through the tower hobbies.com site and found these 132 JR RC motors.
Just though I would ask if anybody had used one?
They are a small 1/32 scale rc car made by Tamiya.
Maybe they are a workable motor for our slotcar hobby !
I seen about 3 or 4 different motor up grades.
Anything possible after the colgate toothbrush discovery !!!!

I just went to the Tower Hobbies site. These motors are rated at approx. 15K rpm at only 3 volts. Would be interesting to see if they can tolerate 10-12 volts without burning up.

I bought a couple of neodenium magnet Tamiya type style of motor that boasted 250,000 no typo RPM on 3 volts. When I put it on a 12 volt battery that runs my track it exploded the commutator and threw wires. The good part about these is the can and end bell both have Ball Bearings. The brushes werent brushes at all but two copper flat wires. Not really made for anything more than 3-5 volts? So I am assuming that the motor listed will also have the same kind of brushes and may run for a while but presumably will fail after a while of running or get super heated. Rule of thumb when any kind of electricity ac or dc passes through a circuit heat is created, the more amps more heat!
I like someone else on this site loves to tinker with these little motors and see what will work for us!

I did read that one of these motors does have a carbon brush.
I think i will order one and try it .
It's called the Hyper-Dash double shafted Pro. I just realized they also have a Mach-dash double
shafted pro. Both have no tec info on them for rpm .

Results of motor
Well I got the MACH-DASH motor, I ran it for 10 minutes on 2.5 volts to break it in.
The rpm was unknown but not screaming .
After that I hot glue mounted it in a scx car and ran just the chassis.
I first noticed the power supply clicking off and on and took note to the amps.
The motor was drawing 5 amps without even working it hard, and using 2-3 amps
to run normally.After sanding the tires and smoking up my stock scaley controller on the
sanding pad, I installed the body and ran the car for a hard 40- 50 laps on my 75ft track.
I was looking for a clearance problem somewhere or binding because of the high amp draw
but there were not any. This little motor was sucking up the amps!
Seems to have lots of rpm but not much torque comming out of the corners.
This motor has NO brakes but still did not over heat. My PM controller got pretty
hot and was the reason I finally called it a day. I would say that this is not a good slotcar motor
eventhough it is cheep $6. Oh well !! ya gotta try em to know !!

Hey Guys
I just looked up the Plasma motor and it has the external brushes and open endbell. So the only way from past racing experience with high amp draw motors is the windings are a larger diameter drawing more amps. I my self will order one and tear it apart and post my findings.
I love tearin things apart to see how they are made!
The end bell is intersting they are doing what I did to the mura end bells years ago! Lightning them up by cutting away any excessive plastic and to also help with cooling.

Havent received the motors yet actually not ordered them yet too busy trying to get my cobbling biz up to par and running, will order them this week. The dash motor is for all out rpms to make those 1/32 4 wheel drive cars that follow that plastic track, I contacted a guy that was selling the Neo motors for them and he said that they wanted the speed not torque, so to answer your concernes about no torque and no brakes the dash is made basically for rpms. I tried to re-wind my own motors but had no real success, in reality I am sold on the nc-1 type motor or the MT-1 from Mark Thomas.
They have the braking needed for my style of driving and shorter track, and will run on wall warts if needed, I am a driving junkie not a speed junkie! Once the shop gets up and running me and my biz partner are planning on a 4X20 layout in our waiting room for the shoe shop and let customers while waiting have some fun!
More to come as I research the motors, a JR Plasma Dash and a JR Mach-Dash motor, and start the build of the "waiting" room!

I have a Plasma Dash.
It is very fast, draws lots of current and has an on/off action. The first time I used it, it fried a std. Scalectric set controller. I have run it with my PWM controller which is good for 20A? but I don't use it any more.

So what your saying is ,it too draws a ton of current.
Therefore not a good motor for slotcars !
At a cost of $ 11.50 plus hst which is 13% here in canada.
I'am thinking NOT for us guys.
