Drag cars + Oval Track Cars

Ecbill..each body is different as far as width. So yes, some have to narrowed quite a bit...The problem with "most " HO cars (bodies) is that they open up the wheel wells so much that a lot of cars lose their realism. Or they sit them so high on the chassis they start looking 4x4ish. All in all, it's just another aspect of the slot car hobby.

I have been collecting diecast bodies for years (well, decades really) with the idea that they would become masters for resin casting HO bodies. But the time and effort to make molds to pour just a few bodies and then paint and detail has prevented much progress on this much-postponed project. Now you have opened my eyes to the perfect solution -- forget the resin, just mount the body on a chassis! Since these are just play cars to populate my HO drag strip, it doesn't matter if they are on the heavy side, since they will all have similar weights and performance. Great stuff here -- now to get out my grinder and get to work!

These are very cool. I'm not much into HO but I can't stop looking at them. I used to collect HW's. Are these the slightly more expensive cars or out of gift packs? I don't remember see any of them. The current run of HW's is a joke compared to the bodies you're using.

The majority of them came from Walmart, 2-3 years ago, for 0.94. I used them for diorama around the oval track and drag strip. The rest came from ebay....The last few times I went to Walmart, all the cars are some kind of fantasy, or cartoon looking cars..I have no idea what's going on with them...I mentioned earlier, the key to buying HW on ebay is when you find a car you want, see what else that dealer is selling..Most will combine shipping, so shipping is the same for one car as it is for four or so. It's a lot cheaper that way.......Thanks! I'm glad you like them.

EDIT:
I'll probably start buying Matchbox or M2 cars. They're a little more expensive, but have some great detail....I've seen a resin cast of the 64 Ford on page one, mold taken directly from the HW car..It was painted black, and looked nice. It SOLD for $40. I can't see paying that kind of money.
