Question guys. Do you use standard 60:40 solder? Plain or resin core? Or silver solder for strength? Or something else entirely?

I hope you are still following this... I think you offered to do a step by step sprint car chassis build? I think I have most of the part I need now but my ignorance due to never having built a brass chassis tells me I probably NLT have half what I am going to need before I finish it.

I would LOVE to see a step by step build!

Aw Marty, you made me sick again. I paid $100 three years ago for a rock tumbler just like that and it never crossed my mind that I could put a chassis in it. I have only put rocks in it twice. This property has tons of really pretty quartz and agate all over it. My creek has rocks bigger than your fist you can almost see through. I was all set, then other stuff got in the way. Now I have to go find it.

I am assembling everything i need to start a step by step on how i build my large dirt champ (score) type sprints maybe some people will get some use out of it i have never done one but
i can always try.then if everyone likes it i will do a midget buildup as well

Some of the best solder I have ever used is Sta-Kleen. It comes with its own flux and solder coil. Melts and flows very well, and is strong. I clean up with a toothbrush and dawn dish soap. Everyone has their favorites when it come to solder so I'm not trying to start a solder war. :)

How do you get the pressed on wheels off the front without a golf club head puller?

I'm very keen on using a Womp sprintcar chassis for the larger size, cheap Monogram. Could I possibly run a pittman motor in that configuration?

The other thing I want to do is turn my Revell model (much smaller than the Monogram) into a slot car. Will the Revell take a Pittman motor?

Though I'm not that keen on performance I do love the sound and smell of those old Pittmans. They kinda make a rattling noise which takes me back to my childhood :)
