Those Lotus are jewels and more durable than they look. We do turn the voltage way down when we run them though.

Yes sir, great little cars. We run them all the time here, just a lot of fun.

I don't think you want to go any higher with the voltage, but you might want to switch to better variable voltage power supply. That would involve wiring your own drivers stations and using different controllers.

With these cars you don't want to add any more, you will just wear out your motors.

ok guys thanks but this has me asking another Qs i now have a evolution carrera track that is 14.8 volts. i want to set up my scalextric track again but that is 15 volts. does the .02 volt increase matter? i ran my scalextric and carrera and slot it cars on them before but not for long. thanks :)

I've taken a couple of mine and installed Slot.it running gear including their F-1 wheels. Very smooooooth.

The best thing about spending the money to upgrade your power supply and controllers is: all of your cars, from now, on will run better. They will always be more responsive and easier to control with better equipment. Don't forget, this is your only connection to the track and cars, so anyhting you do here will impact everything else. In this case, it is all to the good side of the equation.
