Fly Classic Lola T70 conversion

My Fly Classic conversions so far (Porsche 908-3, Ferrari 512) have turned out so well that I looked for another beat up body in my collection. Found a Lola T70, one of my favorites and knocked out another hybrid chassis.



Good results on the looks.







Will try to modify the existing interior driver tray as I like to retain as much of Fly's modeling detail. Think I'll go with Slot It GT40 six spoke inserts in black.

These have been fun to convert and the improved performance is the icing on the cake.

Its very easy to make perfect inserts from the Fly wheels. You might like that on all of these. Just spin them down with a fingernail file, sand paper, just about anything.

Does it feel weird to have a Fly car you've had for a while, and have run a lot, suddenly run like a scratchbuilt?

Finished with the modelling detail completed.









Went with Slot It Ford GT40 Halibrand wheel inserts. Modified and kept as much of Fly's detail - driver tray, driver figure, engine and rear exhaust. Worth the extra weight that may affect performance.

Runs and looks just fine.

Another great looking car. It has just the right stance too. Very nice.

I converted a T70 like this using a 3-D printed chassi from Shapeways/CG Slotcars. Slot It motorpod, gears and guide. Stock Fly motor and custom made wheels. NSR tyres. And of course i had to give it a little Jagertouch.

I did the same thing with a 3D chassis and Fly body. It's a great car to drive and as smooth as a Slot It.
