New 143 brass chassis

With the Kleskun Hills fun run coming up in October , i thought I better turn my focus to some 143 building. I have been building chassis in brass lately and this one is slated for a Porsche 906. Pretty basic flat pan chassis with an anglewinder set up using a 25K @ 12 volt motor.

Rims are plastic that I picked up in bulk for an ebay seller. 2mm Axle openings. I turn them down to allow some BARC Bite urethanes to be used.

Just got this built and it is just starting to be tuned. Not sure what it is capable of yet.

This is the first in 143 that I have tried. This motor required this set up to allow the gears to mesh.

Since the picture was taken , I have replaced this motor with a smaller motor with more rpm. The motor in the picture just didn't have enough speed to keep up with Peters time from last year's entries. I am using last years proxy times as a judge of where this new chassis has to be.

I need to find another 0.4 seconds somewhere!

I love the FF030 moter in anglewinder and sidewinder brass chassis, they work really well and give more than enough RPMs.

Yes I think I will use a FF030 in this and do some more testing. That is all I used to use until I started worrying about full interiors. Then I started playing around with all these small motors.

Yes as crude as it is, I just use Gorilla brand CA. It has been formulated( if you believe what is on the bottle) for better shock strength, which has always be a failure of CA glue. Strong as heck for a straight pull, but just falls away on a sharp impact.

Most of these builds are spending 100% of their time on my track, so if something breaks I can fix it easily. So far these cars, once together, have stayed together. So for me it is a case of simple works, so just go with it.
