Do You Have The Option Of A Local (Slot) Hobby Shop?

I wouldn't call any of the hobby shops local to me a slot shop. They just have a few Scalextric cars if you are lucky. The closest real slot shop to me is Thunderbird, which is not local, unless you call a 60km drive through traffic (one hour) each way 'local'! I often buy stuff from the USA or UK via Ebay

We have one local track here, but it's mostly 1/24 commercial stuff. I do occasionally buy axles or other little stuff from them. The local hobby shop does carry a few 1/32 cars from different makers Carrera, Slot It., and MonoRev, plus some HO stuff. :)

No because I guess that I pretty much live out in the sticks. The only hobby type store in this county is about 40 minutes but they are strictly RC. The closest slot car type place is a commercial track in the next county south which is about an hour and a half away. That place is a commercial track heavily into thingies for which I have absolutely no interest in.

Yes, and the shop (Scale Reproductions) has been very supportive of our club for many years. I used to do all my buying online, now I do most of it at Scale. They have an automatic 10% discount for our club members, and the owner, Brian, makes it a point to hang out with us on club nights once in a while. Russ puts out his 'SlotNoise' newsletter to let us know what's coming up, and several guys on this board also get the newsletter.

All in all, we're very fortunate here!

Harry probably doesn't know it, but he had an impact on Scale Reproductions becoming a slot car center, through one of his many acts of generosity. Sort of 'trickle down theory' applied to slot cars. :)

Yip, sure do. I am only thirty minutes north of Bruce @ Cincy Slots. It's great, get to see the used collections for sale, new cars...........buy a few of them. Doesn't hurt that Bruce is a good guy either. :clap:

Here in SW Ohio we have a hobby town that has a decent selection. - 15-20 minutes away
And if you can catch Cincyslots during the day he has a great selection. 20-30 minutes away
BRS hobbies is online only, apparently ran out of a house, with no option to shop local. an online connection away.
If I hit the highway and head up to Dayton there's The Hobby Shop which has a good selection and
offers 10% discounts + free layaway. - about 30-40 minutes away.

I have a local hobby shop. They sell only 1 or 2 scalex cars at double the price of everywhere else. I used to go & purchase odds & ends from there like styrene & brass for scratchbuilding stuff but I stopped going there as I found them to be rude. I just buy it all online now.

If you are near York, PA I highly suggest you visit Collectors Toys and Trains. He is mostly an internet vendor and his shop hours are very limited. Firday and Saturday only from about 12-5. Closed all summer. But he has a huge selection of Carrera at the lowest prices anywhere, as well as a massive pile of old stuff of every description. Old slot car sets, model kits, and trains galore. It is an unheated wharehouse so dress warm, but it is like going through an old attic filled with stuff to find.

I am always amazed to find boxed race sets at least 30 years old setting around that place. He knows the value of collectables, so you are not going to get something for nothing. But there is a lot of very nice stuff to look through at good prices. I like the place a lot.

I have been asking him to build a track in the shop but he does not have one.
