So I will ask all the builders a question.

I am seriously thinking to add sidewinder as an option for the Sportsman Class next year. KySlotRacer made a wonderful car and it ran great, but no advantage either way compared to standard inline.

So those like myself who will stay inline, I have no concerns on performance results.

And since this event is a little different than most where the actual goal is simply having FUN building and creating a scale realistic model as well as performance, I cannot see the harm.

But I'll leave it in the hands of those who are actually modeling for the event to help me decide.

My vote: Yes

I to will lean towards inline while building but turn them loose and bring on the sidewinders like you said it's all about the building who knows maybe an anglewinder will sneek in there too

Good point. You are correct, "turn them loose". Just add more creativity to it. Sidewinder/Anglewinder.

+1 on that.

Well, I am a non-participant this year, and a late entry last year, but if it means anything, my experimental chassis are a lot easier to get good results from as side or angle winders. I would be a beneficiary of that rule change. Of course, that may not make it easier for me to get my car there on time... even with the very generous lead time from this year.

Well among the vast other projects, I have several molds I want to create for the series. To add even more choices.

The Series will have more info and such to keep folks reminded of it. I realize as most others do, that not everyone has unlimited or larger budgets like Mr. Moneybags Gameover

So, it takes some longer to acquire the parts. And of course the build time.

I will update the rules page in the next week or so to reflect any changes.

I am all for letting in sidewinders. I think sidewinders allow more room for an interior, so perhaps more modelling opportunity?

Cheers

I am a sidewinder man myself
it would be great to get more interior detail
would make them look more realistic and add to the modeling detail
and I am all for that
