Now that the hot rods are gone, it seems they have become more popular. You never know what you have 'til you've lost it.

Like i said before, I tried to get the local group interested, but most of those guys are younger and for them these cars (1) don't mean anything to them, and (2) are too slow with a high center of gravity. And yet they wanted to race Scaley trucks and did, and they were worse in that respect. One never knows. But I think age is a part of it. Young folks aren't into cars in the same way they were a long time ago. Now it's all high tech and can't do it in your garage stuff, and hot rods are grandpa's thing. I'd bet a significant % of the younger slot racers we have don't actually know much about the real cars their slot cars represent.

I raised my boys with a healthy respect and experience with non-computer cars and trucks. I didn't have to do anything to make it happen, I just prefer a car that doesn't try to do everything for me, in terms of driving. I like luxury and spartan, depending on the situation, but they learned to love helping build or hot rod cars that were our daily drivers, and it stuck. Very comforting as the "you don't get to drive" cars are advancing so fast on us. Especially since the real result of these cars is "you don't have to be a responsible driver".
