Sad to see. Hopefully they can rebound and come back stronger.

Well that is 4 releases I will be missing, think that was my entire Scaley list for the year.
Hope they can turn things around, sadly it won't be with my money this year.....

I understand that Barkleys Bank is working with Hornby throughout the restructuring phase.
It wouldnt surprise me if they have had a say in some of the decisions made , afterall it is their money involved. Perhaps they are trying to concentrate on the most prospective worldwide product line.
Although it is a shame to see some withdrawn, I would hope to see the company survive and come back with these models in another year.
2 on the list were ones I had my eye on, but I can live without for the time being.
I am glad to see the BTCC cars have sofar made the cut. With the number of them in different liveries it is a class all on its own.

the car that had my interest was the XY GTHO
very popular car down under

I have got a resin body of this car hot of the press from Munter so will be scratch building one now anyway

it is a shame though

Here is a link to Pendles Scalextric letter and list with pics.
It is from their Blog
I always liked pics as the numbers dont mean a lot to me unless I am ordering something.

From what is being reported on the link Doc provided - the list of "no longer being offered" has expanded. Things mentioned are things like:
http://www.scalextric.com/us-en/james-b ... npack.html
http://www.scalextric.com/us-en/ford-xw ... alcon.html
http://www.scalextric.com/us-en/ford-xc-falcon.html :angry-screaming:
http://www.scalextric.com/us-en/volkswa ... elvan.html

All state - "Item Withdrawn From Production" :(

There are definitely some liveries / cars I had planned on buying that I won't be able to (at least at this time) - hopefully Scalextric reorganizes and comes out of this stronger moving forward.

The #79 Cougar of Mark Waco was on my get list. I'd build my own from a white kit if I could get the decals, but I don't think anyone makes them.

These reports don't mention the Trans Am Javelin so I'm hopeful about that one. Unless Jules produces a Pioneer Javelin, in which case I'd opt for his. I hope Pioneer keeps the Trans Am cars coming, I have an endless appetite for liveries of cars that actually raced in the series.

From what I'm hearing - Scalextric is producing the Javelin. It is due in November. My guess is they have a heavy investment in the work and will not stop it.

Most of the cars from what I'm seeing are repaints, but the cars like the Mad Max are obviously new. Maybe the Javelin was ahead or maybe they determined that their T/A lines sell so well that it was the more sure bet.

The T/A repaints being put on hold are not too big a deal as they have the molds and can always do more next year when things hopefully settle down. They've released quite a few recently and still have not cancelled a few so that bodes well in my opinion. I do want the Cougar for sure when and if they do it.

The Lotus 49 - Pete Lovely car was on my list, so that is a disappointment, but again - if they release it in a year I'm good with that.

I do feel bad for the Australian fans though. They really lost out this year.

Overall, not yet time to panic, but certainly they are feeling the pinch of global economics and possible issues with products, sales, or costs.

Either way, the patient is not yet terminal and I remain optimistic they'll come out ok on the other side.

BRING ON THE JAVELIN!!!

Sad to see the DP dropped, though it seems likely that is a significant minority opinion. The Javelin hanging on is good news. Keeping finger crossed for the company's future recovery.

If Dave Kennedy or Jules choose to respond, I'd like to know if this development is good or bad news from a competitor's perspective?

While I've purchased four Carrera cars in the past year at their very reasonable price of around $32 USD, I've also bought Pioneer cars for $55-$60, and Fly cars up to $80. When I think of the Trans Am cars from the 60's - early 70's, and LeMans cars from the same era that are so popular, I imagine it's baby boomers like myself who are the primary customers because those cars are from our youth - cars we drooled over but could never have but can now collect and race as slot cars. If the Scalextric Trans Am cars like the #79 Cougar was released as a 'Classic' with a higher price point, even up to $80, I'd still buy it because it would be worth it to me.

When I think of an aging consumer base for slot cars I also think that means more disposable income than I had years ago when raising a family or getting started in a career. Am I off base?
