Pioneer Camaro delayed until spring of 2013?

Just received this email from Hot Slots.

We are writing to you with an update on your backorder of 1/32 Pioneer Analog Slot Cars - Camaro '67 Limited Edition - Gary Gove Sidewinder - No. 7 delayed till Spring 2013.

Just got notified by Pioneer that upon final inspection of their cars; they realized that they were not made to the standard that Pioneer wanted. They made the decision to move their manufacturing back to London. They are delaying release until all the quality control issues have been resolved. Sure these cars will be worth the wait!

I was reading on another forum that people are threatening not to buy the Camaros because they have been delayed. Given the issues we have seen with some manufacturers cars coming out I am pleased that Jules is fixing the issues before they get out to the stores.

I am looking forward to seeing these (and the slight delay helps my wallet!) and will be buying once they are available.

As far as I'm concerned, the minimally equipped guys (chest thumpers), who pull all those dumb threats are just making sure I get all the cars I want without having to search. As has been said, Jules is still respected among those of us who appreciate quality.

That's bad news. I'd hoped things were moving forward for Jules. Poor fellow must be really tired of beating his head against the Great Wall by now.

I'm sure Pioneer will "Wow" us when they get everything worked out for later in the year.

I'm kind of puzzled how they'll get anything out by this spring if they're moving production again. Sounds overly optimistic.

I don't see the problem with pre-ordering these as long as no money is given up front by customers and retailers.

Personally though I will just wait and see on these. If there are some left after they are released I might pick one up. If there are none left for me due to all being pre-ordered by others well that's not going to hurt Pioneer at all.

I don't really care when they will available. They'll be here when they get here, it's not life or death. They are mass produced items and things do go awry once in a while. Jules I'll get mine when they are available. The chest thumpers need a reality check. It's a slot car, not an organ transplant. :roll:

MG, great explanation of the manufacturing delays. As much as I would like to have the car released sooner I don't mind waiting longer to have a more accurate model. As for the people that say they wont buy them now just shows how spoiled we have become in the hobby over the last few years. I would like to say it would be nice if Jules would have told people about the problems and delays he is having which in turn may have helped damage control to the Pioneer name, but I think when all is said and done and the final product gets released the wow factor of the model will be worth all the wait. Its easy to say Jules should keep everyone in the loop on whats going on since he posts on all the forums but the truth of the matter is, that none of the other manufactures in the hobby explain to us of their delays, we just have to wait and its never a real issue the way it has been for him. I will continue to support him and his product because he takes the time and does things right.

I have been very happy with my Pioneer purchases. Good things come to those who wait.

London? Is it safe to assume that's where Jules is and he can directly look over the construction shoulder?

The big concern here is that relocation again means more expense. There is a tipping point somewhere along the line when even the most stubborn individual must throw their hands in the air and admit defeat. Relocating production again so soon after the most recent effort has to inch things that much closer to the wrong side of the fulcrum.

I just hope that Jules can hang in there and achieve what he wants out of this project.
