It's unfortunate that the two cars don't match up but the solution for future releases should include grams weight and grams downforce.

Back in the 70's Rob, when these two cars raced each other in the 1:1 world.
The old Cleveland punched out that much more horsepower than the old 308 that it did well on the big wide long tracks and the Torana was better on the tight and twisty stuff. It all seemed to even out.
So Perhaps the answer is to remotor the Torana with a nice mild one and the Falcon with something ridiculous. :D

The other thing is that although the Torana may be quicker with magnets out of the box, I think the big Ford would be more consistent over a race length, less prone to deslotting or crashing at speed you might say.

Run them both for 60 laps and I reckon the little Toranasaurus will be off a lot more times than the falcon. It might be closer at the end than we think.

Having Said all that, I completely agree with you that perhaps a common adjustable Chassis/Motor is a great idea but then I think the big wheelbase of the Falcon will still see it more consistent.

The cars are so different in terms of Size that it's amazing that in the 70's the cars seemed to even out over the season on a variety of tracks.
As for Dad and son Scenario on their Home layout (where the same circuit is run Day in and Day out) the only real answer would be to make the two cars closer in size (Say 1/38 for the Falcon) but then the Scale Purists would tear it too shreds.

Gee I don't know. This is at least a 6 pack worth of beers to ponder this, but I have to go on shift this arvo.
As for the lower strength magnets I think that's scaleys response to "general public opinion" that the cars were too stuck down.

Yeah makes sense too Ted...

....I am hoping the average will be a lot closer, the Torana is very skittery, the Ford feels really nice by comparison, I think it will be the pick of the two (I like it the best anyway, is a lovely thing), will mess around with it when I get the chance and see how it pans out......

Don't think they will ever run at the local club though, the strictly stock rule there makes a fair match up between the two unlikely (and frustrating, its a lovely big track).
