JAMES BOND 007 "SPECTRE"

Went to see "SPECTRE", the new James Bond 007 flick on Friday morning (11/06) - don't worry - NO spoiler alert needed here! It was the first local showing of the movie on USA premier day, in the new "X-Plus" special theater within the Multiplex here. Killer picture, KILLER sound, every seat is a big plush recliner style w/ cup holders, and the aisle guide lights are a non-distracting deep blue. And of course I very much enjoyed the movie as well! Christoph Waltz was a perfect villain, much the same as the Nazi officer he played in "Inglourious Basterds" opposite Brad Pitt (I know that spelling's weird, but Quintin Tarantino had to fudge it for copyright reasons). I've liked all of the Daniel Craig 007 films, especially Casino Royale and Skyfall. This one being his fourth time around as 007, and it's still up in the air (and too soon after finishing this one, both he and the producers say) if he wants to do or be wanted for a fifth. If you like this franchise, I say go see the film - in the best theater you can see it in.

I tend to wait for the dvds and will do so in this case too, but thanks for the spoiler-free review. I agree that Craig has been an enjoyable Bond, and certainly hope that he continues.

As a fan of all the Bond films plus Ian Flemming's writings, Timothy Dalton ranks at the top of my actors who've portrayed Bond list, narrowly beating out Connery who can make just about any movie watchable as long as he's in it. While the scripts weren't the best, Dalton's portrayal of the character was most close to what I felt Flemming was aiming for in the novels and short-stories: a tortured soul who was more or less stuck in the life of a secret agent, leaving him removed from the world, sardonic in nature, and spiteful of his lot in life. Craig has moments where he brings this out as well, but it remains a shame that the character lawsuit that hit EON caused a cessation of picture production during Dalton's run.

Couldn't resist -- I went to see it AGAIN last night, and in the "X-Plus" theater for the senior price of only $6.50!!
Having that AARP card finally pays off for something. That's less than HALF off the usual ticket with the $3 surcharge for the "X" experience.
Enjoyed it again very much, even knowing the plot going in. The DVD will be mine once it's released, as usual with all the Bond flicks.
If you still haven't seen it -- GO SEE IT. I doubt you'll be disappointed... and that one of ten Aston Martin prototype is VERY cool, too.
