Area 51 24 Hour Group C Race this weekend

An excellent event top to bottom.
Big thanks to Steve and his wife for hosting this great event. It was definitely a privilege to be part of it.
I know everyone on the CG team had a great time and although we suffered some setbacks - everyone had a smile and was already talking about doing another 24Hrs....

Big thank you to his royal excellency - Cloverleaf's Sir Lord Duke Rob Hall for some technical and mechanical help once again this year. :bow-blue: - I may have knighted him by mistake - but I'm sure that title won't take long....
There isn't anyone else I'd rather sit next to for hours on end doing tire swipes (although - there could be somebody crazier out there someplace...)!

Thanks to Steve and his family for hosting all of us misfits. It was great to see the folks from the other teams, even Team Quebec :scared-eek:

Good food, great conversations, exceptional racing (by the Shoreline team - 8.8 sec laps WTH), and no sleep. Can't wait to do it next year!

It was a great event and a big thanks to Steve and family for hosting and being so welcoming - the hospitality was exceptional.

I have never participated in an event where the racing was so close yet good natured and gentlemanly. Not only at the top of the field but at the bottom; team Can Am was in a dogfight with ChanginGearz and I raced lap after lap with Allan where we went door to door or nose to tail for what seemed an eternity and no nerfing or dirty racing. I observed many battles throughout the 24 hours and have to say BRAVO to everyone for hard but clean racing. I have nothing but praise for my fellow competitors and it was an honor to be part of it! And cudos to Steve for making a great donation to charity! A class act!

It was my tenth 24-hour race and it was again a wonderful way to spend a weekend with friends. Having serious fun is what an event like this is all about. Yes, everyone wants to win. But everyone also wants to have fun more than win. And that makes all the difference in the world.

First of all, a HUGE thank you to Steve, his wife Holly and everyone else involved in hosting this race. The work needed to have an event like this run well is tremendous and I know for a fact that Steve is always working harder than we can imagine to welcome us into his home. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Congrats to Shoreline Model Raceways for the win. From the beginning, we knew we were all in trouble. The car was fast and flawless and the driving was the same way, from all members of the team. Well done gentlemen!

I'm also very happy to finally see my good friends at Clover Leaf Racing get to the end of a 24-hour race without any major mechanical problems on their car. They work hard every time but luck hasn't been on their side before this race. Your first 2nd place is only the beginning of good times ahead for CLR. You're a great bunch of guys!

Our team, Équipe Québec, used the same winning car from last year but we had some problems with the grip this year (we still don't know why) and 3rd place was the best we could do. We raced hard until the end and we're proud of our performance.

CanAm could win the award for the best team spirit every time. And they drove a very good car this year for a good 4th place. The battle with Changing Gearz was furious until CG had to replace their pinion and got a little too far behind. But for only their second 24-hour race, those guys learned fast and they will better and better each year. Watch out for them!

Again, thank you for everything. This is a wonderful hobby!

Equipe Quebec, the winning team from last year, returned with essentially the same car as last year with the major change being that Piranha motors were mandated. Last year their Lancia hooked up so well in the corners that they were essentially untouchable, winning all but one heat. This year, despite having the same individuals prepare their entry, Christian mentioned that their Lancia was not as stable in the turns.

I was surprised that they weren't as quick this year and, to me, this illustrated how delicately balanced these cars can be. They had a very quick car, but evidently slightly less stable in the turns than last year. Tuning cars, at this level of competition, seems both science and art.

Perhaps Christian will chime in here for a more accurate explanation of this year's Lancia performance.
