Almost Finished

With the 40 finished, decided to dig the Falcon out and finish it. Been just sitting in primer
since I got side tracked.





This was the first atempt to build shocks and was never really happy with them but it looks ok.
Color is Dupli-Color Black Sand Pearl, decals from Polecat and Testors Zinc Chromate on the frame
which looks yellow in the pictures but it's darker and has a slight greenish look to it.

You set the bar with your work. The Falcon is neat looking but that coupe
is HO building at it's best ! The finest looking HO modified I have ever seen
in my over half a century of building and racing HO modifieds ! Can't wait

What do you use to glue your details on with and how well does it hold up to wall shots?

Right now I'm using Loctite 404 for most of the bar work. I also use Loctite 380 Black Max
for some stuff. But most any of the Ca glues will work I just stay away from the real
cheap stuff.
As to wall shots, Being in this hobby since 65, I've been through my share of cars and
tracks. At the present time I don't have a track set up. These cars are built for the
shear pleasure of building them. They are fully functioning cars, they run and are
all oiled up at assembly and tested. Perhaps I will build another track in the future
but for right now I am at the point that I just like to build an see how far I can push
the enevlope while staying in touch and enjoying the hobby.
I do have a few that are out in the wild and are run, one took a 3 foot flip
across the guys track and stayed together. I'd say that was a good indication
that they are pretty stout. But anything that hits the wall or floor enough
times is going to come apart, no matter what it's put together with.
So in answer to your question, they are built to be run but they are not
all out race cars. Makes for a good incentive to keep the car on the
track and not in the wall, but things happen so in a worst case senerio
just take it back to the bench and rebuild it.

This has been laying around for awhile and I finally got around to playing with it.

First the rear deck was shortened and then the body was sectioned down the middle
and mounts added.


Then a hood was built out of sheet plastic and fitted to the car.

Chassis frabrcation was started which took awhile cause most of the designs just didn't work for the lines
of the car. Finally a design that worked was found and chassis fabrcation was completed.


Cage and driver are also finished and mocked up with paint soon to follow.


Car is based on an Aurora Maserati body, and not a likely subject for a modified but sometimes we
do strange things here. Car is coming along and should be ready for paint shortly.

Been awhile, have a few things going on. Maserati is still sitting waiting for paint,along with
that started another 37 coupe. Started with a 37 Roadster body and added a 41 roof.



After a few more cuts here and there, got it mounted on a chassis and started working on a hood for it.



While the 37 was setting up, we dug out an old project that was sitting around for awhile and decided
to work on it some more.


Started this some time ago. Started life as a 63 T-Bird and needed a roof so we borrowed one from an old
Cougar that was laying around and lengthened the rear posts a little and mounted it to the body.
Made some new front posts for it and a a hood.

Not quite sure where this one is going yet, but it's different.

Awhile back we started playing with an old Aurora Maserati body. Body was
sectioned and shortened then put back together.
Well it finally got finished and this is the result.





Wasn't sure if the car was going to work out or not, but in the end
things fell together.

That turned out AWESOME!

Getting back to the T-Bird, a radiator has been built and fitted up.


Also made up some air filters for the injectors. Made up from some 1/16th rod and glued on to the
injectors. Sanded and shaped to fit for height afterwards.


Mocked up on the car, they look pretty good. Would have rather had a set from a Tyco Chaparral but
used them all and have to make due with these.

Getting sidetracked again. Awhile back I found this body at a show, in a junk box on the floor.

It's a 1950 Austin and was severly hacked up with some goofy chrome motor siliconed to the front.
Looked like the makings of a good coach body. Took it apart and cleaned all the silicone out of it
and ground a bunch of excess plastic out of it. With that the body got a little thin so I coated the inside
of it with some plastic melted in Testors liquid glue.

After all that setup, started working on the body cuts and opening up all the windows and
cleaning up the inside of the body. So far this is where it is at.




So far there is a lot of work in it just to get to this point but coach bodies in HO are not the norm
so we'll work with it and see what happens.
