Yeah, I know this is crazy quick for an update. I have been carving away on a resin body, and I discovered something more about this little unit. I have had a lot of home made resin bodies that have very thick windows to cut out, and I chose one of those to work on today. This isn't the smooth white resin, nor the creamy smooth resin that David R. uses, it was that slightly translucent darker stuff that is slightly tougher.
What I found was that the little cheapo with its slightly out of round shaft orbit actually eats resin better without overheating the resin. The resin dust never did build up and make the sanding sleeve unusable, so it would have to be cleaned on a piece of live rubber again and again. The eccentric movement gives just enough contact break to keep the friction temp down. It isn't hard to control, even with the wobbly shaft. It isn't all that wobbly, but compared to a Dremel, the contrast is pretty distinct. There is another of these bodies with six thick windows, but it is going to be a panel delivery, so there's half as many windows to cut out. Tomorrow I'll see what happens with styrene.
