Well, I finished the Marx Indy Watson this AM. A very fun project to me. Bringing back a throw away car like this is about as cool as it gets to me. These cars were funky to say the least, Not only were they a bit large for 1/32, but they had a propriatory track system that would not allow any other cars to run with them, and they could not be ran on Strombecker or Eldon raceway's either.
That being said, I always thought these cars were at least an attempt to bring the American Indy 500 race into the living rooms of kids everywhere, something that nobody else did to my knowledge. and at the time, that was big stuff in racing with all the changes in cars going on during the late fifties and early sixties. Anyway, This is the first of what I hope to be a field of, Replica Marx indy 500 specials. I now have all the molds for the four bodies offered by Marx, and also have made molds of the custom wheel inserts, exhaust system's (there were 3 various exhaust) and also the steering linkage decoration on the right hand side, and I have Vac formed enough of the two different windscreens to last a while too.
Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
