Lotus 11 build

Eyed my adjustable wheelbase metal chassis in my Lotus Europa build and wondered if it'd work on my Lotus 11 body. It's pretty small measuring 4.5" long, 2 1/8" wide and 15/16" at the head rest.



Yep, it's going to work but got to cut out the molded in interior/driver tray. No way the chassis'll fit with it in place. Last minute decision to mold it in. At least the cut out tray will yield a driver figure.





Fit's tight.



Wheel well grinding's needed to get this stance.



Tested the chassis under the Europa yesterday on Luf's challenging Targa Burnaby track and runs solid and very driveable for a small car. A bit more front weight would make it better.

Time to get the body solidly mounted.

Body's mounted. Attached the strange windscreen/cover vacumm-formed in opaque styrene instead of clear material. Driver figure will poke out of an opening.







Stance is good and the four-spoke wheel inserts work for me.

I am intrigued by the screen/cover. It should be clear shouldnt it?

I pulled a body from Dan's mould, and we now have a supply of clear material for that windscreen. At least mine is going to be. This body casting is addictive and now we are all searching for unusual cars to use as blanks.

Got going on this after sitting a few months. Tamiya Racing Green sprayed with color accents on the headrest pad and headlight covers. Driver figure also painted and installed.







Cockpit cover/windscreen should be clear but I like it painted.

Just need some Future finish for protection and we're done.

Great looking build.

There were several of the 11's in the SVRA event at IMS last year. It was startling how tiny they are. Where did you get the body?

I did a little looking around about the car. Incredibly, there is a very sophisticated kitcar being produced (for $40,000!) that uses a Mazda Miata or MGB drivetrain, plus several other drivetrains that can also be used with modifications, including a Chevy S-10 trucklet!
