fat 356 build

Got this fat 356 going for a friend. Always wanted to do a wide arch and hard tonneau cover one with big meats, so this was the opportunity.

It's a whopping 2 3/4" track at the back. Should be helpful in driveability for such a short wheel base car.

Lots more work to go.

Do I anticipate a silicone mould being poured for that one?

Always loved that 'outlaw 356' style.

Which reminds me, where's 59Caddy? (Nesta) He was the king of these builds, but haven't seen him for a while.

Luf's stolen fat 356 and Nesta's build were inspirations.

It's pretty close for primer.

Primer's on.

Body's now about 3/4" wider than stock.

Lots more room for larger wheels and tires.

Coming along great Dan.
Definitely worth popping a mould of.
It has nice detail.

The best thing about flaring a car like this is that you are nor constricted by partially covered wheel wells.

Looking good Dan.

Looks great, I have done two of these with the wide flares and they just suit the 356. Gives them character! :handgestures-thumbup:

Lee,

Your builds were an inspiration and reference for me, too.

Thanks for that.

Been slow on this build the last three weeks, but got going on the body and chassis.

Opened up the hard cover for the driver figure and added a headrest fairing.

Built a knock-off of the no longer available adjustable wheelbase BWA chassis.

Image

The body's so wide that the fellow I'm building this for is continuing the outlaw theme with tandem wheels/tires.

It's getting there.
